Vow to build a prosperous country

The 48th Independence and National Day was celebrated in different districts yesterday with a fresh vow to build a prosperous country.

In Mymensingh, local administration, Zilla Parishad, Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies, Muktijoddha Sangshad, several educational institutions and other organisations as well as common people celebrated the day through various programmes. The day’s programmes included hoisting of national flag atop all government, semi-government, private and public buildings, educational institutions and other establishments.

The day’s programmes began through placing of wreaths at Muktijoddha memorial in the town. Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman inaugurated the programme by placing wreaths.

Divisional Commissioner GM Saleh uddin, DIG Nibash Chandra Mazi, DC Subash Chandra Biswas, Zilla Parisad Chairman Yusuf Khan Pathan, Mayor Ekramul Haque and leaders of AL and others placed wreaths at the memorial. Besides, different political parties, Chhatra League, and socio-cultural organisations also placed wreaths. Colorful rallies, march past of police, boys scout, girl guide, fire service and civil defense personnel, BNCC, students and children were held at Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium at 8am.

Religious Affairs Minister was present as the chief guest and took salute of the colourful march past.

Later, freedom fighters, family members of martyred freedom fighters and relatives were accorded receptions at local gymnasium.

Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman was present on the occasion as the chief guest.

In observance the day, special diets have been served among the patients of the hospitals and orphanage centres. Mymensingh Press club also arranged a discussion and reception ceremony for four freedom fighters and members as well of the club.

In Panchagarh, the day was celebrated amid much enthusiasm and fanfare yesterday. The day’s programmes began with heralding of 31 gun salutes at Mouktijodha chatter and placing of wreaths at Shaheed Minars at 6.05 am. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Johirul Islam, Superintendent of Police Gias Uddin Ahamed and other officials placed wreaths at the Mouktijoddha Shaheed Minar.

Muktijoddha sangsad, educational institutions, different political, social and cultural organisations chalked out various programmes to mark the day.

The programmes included hoisting of national flag atop all government, public and private buildings, reception to the freedom fighters and special prayers for salvation of the martyrs. Improved diets were also served among inmates of hospital, jail and orphanages marking the day. A discussion meeting was held at zila parishad hall room on the occasion.

In Manikganj, the programmes included hoisting of the national flag, placing wreaths at the Central Shahid Minar in the town, special prayer, seminar and discussion.

The day began with 31 gun salutes at Shahid Tapan-Miraz Stadium at early hours. Awami-League, led by state minister of health and family welfare Alhaj Zahid Maleque Sawpon MP, Member of the Parliament from Maniganj-1 constituency Naimur Rahman Durjoy, Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj Md Nasmus Sadat Selim, Police Super Rifat Rahman Shamim, Chairman of Zila Parishad and District Awami-League President Gulam Mohiuddin, Mayor of Manikganj Municipality Gazi Kamrul Huda Selim, BNP

leaders lead by Tozammel Hoque Toza, other political parties, socio-cultural organisatons, educational institutions placed floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar showing respects to the heroes of the liberation war.

A colorful march past of Police, Ansar, VDP, BNCC, Mukul Fouj, youth organisations and different educational institutions was held at the Shaheed Tapan-Miraz Stadium in Manikganj. The deputy commissioner Nasmus Sadat Selim and Police Super Rifat Rahman Shamim took the salute.

In Bogra, a free medical camp was held on Subil High School premises in the town. It was organised by ‘Shapnashaya’, a non-profit organisation.  

Dr Md Samir Hussein allies Mishu, president of Shadhinota Chikitshok Parishad of the district unit also Bogra Shadar upazila health and family planning officer inaugurated the camp as the chief guest.

About 200 people were given free health service and advice by some renowned, experienced and specialist doctors. A colourful Rally and discussion meeting was also held on the occasion.

In Faridpur, the day was celebrated amidst much enthusiasm and festivity as elsewhere across the country, reports BSS.

The district administration, police administration, different political parties, educational institutions, NGOs, and other organizations as well as the common people are celebrating the day in a befitting manner.

The day’s programmes include hoisting of the national flag atop all government, semi-government, private and public buildings, educational institutions and other establishments.

The observance began through heralding 31 gun salutes on Police Lines Ground and placing of wreaths at the Swadhinota Smritistambha at Goalchamot and the mass graveyard adjacent to Sheikh Jamal stadium in the town. At the beginning, the wreath was placed at Swadhinota Smritistambha on behalf of LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain. Deputy Commissioner Ommey Salma Tanzia, Zila Parishad Chairman Lokman Hossain Mridha, Superintendent of Police Jakir Hossain, Faridpur District Awami League President Advocate Subol Saha, district Muktijoddha Commander Abul Fayez Shahnewaz, Govt. Rajendra College Principal Mosharraf Ali, Town Awami League President Nazmul Islam Khondoker Levi and Secchasebok League Convener Sawkot Ali Zahid placed wreaths later.

Among others, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, Communist Party of Bangladesh and other originations placed wreaths at the Swadhinota Smritistambha.

Besides attractive displays, colorful rallies, march past of police, boys scout, girl guides, BNCC, students and children were held at Sheikh Jamal stadium.
