UN assistant secretary general Haoliang Xu on Sunday said Bangladesh is on the right track to address the challenges to make the current achievements sustainable and become a developing country officially.
"This is a significant achievement. And definitely Bangladesh is on right track to address challenges ahead," he told a small group of journalists including the UNB correspondent.
He, however, said there is still much to do as Bangladesh is embarking on a new chapter in its development with expectations of continued strong economic growth.
The UN official said though Bangladesh will lose some benefits as LDC country after graduation there are lot of benefits that Bangladesh can enjoy after formal graduation.
"You have many years to get prepared," he said putting emphasis on addressing challenges related to inequality, climate change, urbanization and job creation.unb.
