Barisal City Corporation (BCC) cleaners and sweepers started removing garbage from the roads yesterday morning.

Permanent and temporary employees of the city corporation suspended indefinite strike on Tuesday following a meeting with Deputy Commissioner of Barisal Md Habibur Rahman, BCC Mayor Ahsan Habib Kamal, and forty councilors, officials of police and district administration and citizen representatives.

They observed about month long strike demanding their arrears, salaries. At the end part of the strike cleaners and sweepers expressed solidarity with the strike from three days ago and stopped removing garbage.

Dipok Lal Mridha, conservancy officer of Barisal City Corporation said that it will take 48 hours to remove the garbage from 160 dustbins of the city.
