‘Sea-Morog’ coming on Shilpakala stage today

Bangladesh Theatre will stage yet another show of its sixth production ‘Sea-Morog’ today evening at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

The play ‘Sea-Morog’ portrays a crystal clear image of eternal rural Bangla through simple yet interesting stage acts.

Written by Asadullah Faraizee and directed by Humayun Kabir, ‘Sea-Morog’ is a comedy play, which makes satires on rural problems like ignorance, superstition, religious bigotry and so on. The story of the play revolves around Bajal Sardar, an influential person in the village of Baghabari where Hindu and Muslim community used to live in peace. Sardar, by chance, finds a homeless rooster on a stormy night while returning home from the marketplace.

This simple incident changes the fortune of Sardar radically. The good omen that the rooster brings with it is extraordinary and very prosperous for Sardar. Whatever venture he undertakes, he comes out successful.

This is how the play goes forward, depicting a peaceful village turning into a dreadful massacre.

The probable cast of the play includes Khondokar Shah Alam, Sharif Mahmud among others, in different characters.
