Three DU Students Get Kazi Motahar Hossain Gold Medal

Three students of the Department of Statistics, Biostatistics & Informatics of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded Prof. Kazi Motahar Hossain Memorial Gold Medal recently at TSC auditorium of the university, for their outstanding academic results in BS Honours and MS examinations, according to a press release.
The recipients of gold medal are Mirajul Islam, Khondoker Akib Mohammad and Kamrun Naher Keya. Besides, Mosharraf Hussain, a third year student,  has received Kazi Motahar Hossain Foundation prize.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the medals and the prize among the students as chief guest at the function. Prof. Kazi Motahar Hossain Foundation and Statistics, Biostatistics & Informatics Department of DU jointly organized the programme to mark the 118th birth anniversary of Prof. Kazi Motahar Hossain. President of Kazi Motahar Hossain Foundation, Prof. Dr. Sanjida Khatun presided over the function, while Journalist Syed Saleh Chowdhury delivered the memorial lecture on ‘The Chess Boss Kazi Motahar Hossain’. Chairman of the Department of Statistics, Biostatistics & Informatics of DU, Prof. Md. Abdul Jalil gave the vote of thanks.  Journalist Kazi Rownak Hussain moderated the programme.   
DU Vice-Chancellor said, the main objective of education is to create humanitarian values in human being. Kazi Motahar Hossain had played an important role in this regard. He urged the students to make themselves honest and patriotic citizen by following the ideals of Kazi  Motahar Hossain. Prof. Kazi Motahar Hussain was a teacher of the Department of Statistics of DU.
