Universities celebrate National Children’s Day
The 98th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day-2018 was celebrated yesterday in a befitting manner at different public and private universities across the country. To mark the day, JU Vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreath at his portrait at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall at 10 am.
JU Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq, Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique, Director of Teacher-Student Center Professor Bashir Ahmed and teachers of different departments were accompanied the VC during paying homage to Bangabandhu.
Later, different departments, institutes, dormitories and teacher’s organisations placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
Earlier, led by JU VC, a colorful procession brought out from the Central Shahid Minar premises that ended at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman hall premises parading different streets on campus. CU correspondent adds: Marking the day, the university authorities brought out a procession at around 9am led by Vice-chancellor of the university Prof Dr Gautam Buddha Das where children’s, students, teachers, officers and employees were participated. After parading whole campus Gautam Buddha Das, VC of the University paid the homage by placing a wreath at the portrait.
BAU CORRESPONDENT says, the day’s programme started on the university helipad premises by hoisting the national flag at around 9am.
Later, the teachers, students, officers of BAU and the students of Krishi Bisshabiddalay High School and College brought out a procession that marched the main roads of the campus and placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the campus. BAU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Ali Akbar inaugurated the procession by releasing pigeons.
A cultural programme titled ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’ was held on the Bakultola premises on the campus where students from eight schools, adjacent to the university campus, took part. Shishu Kishore Council of BAU arranged the programme while BAU VC attended as the chief guest.
