At least four motorcyclists were killed and two others injured in road accidents in capital and Barisal yesterday. Two motorcyclists were killed and another was injured in a road accident early Saturday on Mayor Mohammad Hanif flyover at Dholaipar area of Old Dhaka, according to UNB news. The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hasan Rifat, 19, and Jahangir Hossain, 20. Injured Rabbi is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said DMCH police out-post in-charge Bachchu Mia. The motorbike skidded off the road and overturned on the flyover around 5:30am, leaving the three bikers injured when they were returning to the capital from Mawa in Munshiganj, he said quoting the injured victim.
Jahangir succumbed to his injuries at Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital while Mehedi died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
OUR STAFF REPORTER adds from Barisal: Two including, one college student, were killed on the spot and one received serious injuries in a road accident in Kashimpur area of the city yesterday afternoon at about 3:45pm.
Police identified one dead as Md Ashik Hasan, second year student of Guthia Ideal College and other one was till unidentified. Seriously injured Md. Faruk Hosen was admitted to Barisal Sher- e- Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) in a critical condition.
Local sources said the accident took place when motor cycle carrying three collided head on with a passenger bus in Kashipur area in front of DIG office. Dr Mahbubur Rahman, emergency officer of SBMCH, said two died on the spot and condition of one injured was till critical.
Police visited the spot and seized the bus. Driver and helper managed to flee from the spot.
