Munshiganj: Police in a drive arrested four abductors with ransom money and rescued the abductee from Hatlaxmiganj area of Sadar upazila on Wednesday afternoon, reports UNB. The arrestees were identified as Abdur Rob, 35, Amir Hossain, 40, Sumon Miah, 22, and Manzil, 35. The victim was identified as Gopal Chandra Mandol, 40. Quoting locals, Munshiganj Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Ilias Ali said a team of abductors abducted Gopal Chandra Mandol from a Dhaka-bound launch named Farhan-7 in the morning.
The gang took Gopal to Hatlaxmiganj area, confined him to a house and phoned his family members demanding Tk 50,000 as ransom. Later, the family informed Dhaka and Munshiganj police regarding the matter. On information, Munshiganj Sadar Police Station sub-inspector Tania phoned the abductors introducing her as the sister of the victim and asked them to go a restaurant in Hatlaxmiganj area to take the ransom money.
