Low-standard medical equipment causing deaths, say speakers

RAJSHAHI: Low-standard medical equipment and proper OT system are causing deaths every year at medical hospitals and clinics in the country, said speakers at a seminar on Saturday in the city, reports UNB. "Most of the clinics and diagnosis centres of Bangladesh are interested in using cheaper equipment to save their cost, but do not care about the services. Even they use some products those are harmful for the patients,” said Shudhir Bansal, managing director of Asia Mediacorp in New Delhi, India while presenting the keynote paper at the programme jointly organised by Science Engineering and Services of Bangladesh (SENS) and Sim International Marketing of India (SIM).

He, later, held a virtual exhibition on various quality-based medical equipment at the daylong seminar titled ‘New/Refurbished High-tech Medical Equipment and Modular

OT’.

More than fifty doctors, a good number of owners of clinics and diagnosis centres and medical officers participated in the programme.

Among others, Rajshahi University Medical Centre chief officer Dr Tabibur Rahman, Rajshahi Clinic Association general secretary Mokhlesur Rahman spoke at the programme conducted by Rajshahi Metropolitan Hospital's owner Mahfuzur Rahman Chowdhury Milon.

The speakers stressed on using standard medical equipment at every medical hospital and clinic to provide a quality health services to the patients.
