Women’s U-15 team to play
in HK 4-nation football

Bangladesh women’s national Under-15 football team will fly to Hong Kong on March 28 this month to play a four-nation football tournament.

The four-team competition will start at Jockey Club House ground in Hong Kong on March 30 and ends on April 1.

Besides, Bangladesh, the hosts Hong Kong along with Iran and Chinese Taipei will take part in the three-day-long meet.

Bangladesh is considered the pre-tournament favourites in this tournament. The younger booters have earlier experience of thrashing Iran and Chinese Taipei.

Bangladesh women last year wrapped up the first-ever title of the SAFF Under-15 Championship by beating the powerful Indian side at home turf.

Walton, a conglomerate of electric and electronics products of the country, is sponsoring the team with a hope of faring well better result in the multi-nation tournament and bringing the pride for the country.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) member and its women’s committee chairman Mahfuza Akhter Kiron said, “We’re going to take part in the four-nation tournament in Hong Kong this month. The organisers will provide the accommodation and other facilities to our team. But we’ve to bear the air fare.”

Citing Walton as the best friends and well-wishers of the football, Kiron, who is an elected member in FIFA, said “Walton Group remains with us as the team sponsor in this tour. They’re staying with us almost every time in the past.”

FM Iqbal Bin Anowar, operative director (games and sports) of Walton Group, said that they’re trying to work together with the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on regular basis to contribute somewhat with this growing event of the country.
