Stocks open week up on large-cap vibe

Stocks opened week upward yesterday with rising trend of all the major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher activities of large-cap securities, reports BSS.

The rising major sectors were insurance and food and allied. A total of 149 securities of large-cap group moved up due to higher activities.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 12.55 points up at 5,883.39. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 1.33 points up at 1,373.77 and with 3.44 points up at 2,172.41 respectively.

Out of the 334 issues traded on DSE, 178 gained against 109 losing issues.

The trade volume at DSE increased to 9.68 crore from Thursday’s 9.27 crore shares. But the trade value at DSE decreased to Tk 363.44 crore from the previous session of Tk 422.30 crore.

The five major gaining companies were Apex Foods, Rupali Insurance, Asian Insurance, Usmania Glass and Delta Life. The five major losing companies were NCCBLMF1, BGIC, ALIF, Sunlife Insurance and Meghan Paramount.

The top five turnover leaders were National Tubes, Ifad Autos, Apex Foods, ALIF and Phoenix Finance.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 93.53 points up at 18,172.59.

At CSE, 231 issues were traded. Of those, 144 closed higher and 53 closed lower when 68.74 lakh shares worth Tk 1.77 crore changed hands.
