2 found dead in Savar

A young man and a teenage girl were found dead in separate places in Savar on Saturday morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet. Ibne Farhad, Sub-Inspector of Savar Model Police Station, said miscreants hacked the youth, aged at 22, to death at dawn and dumped the body in Badda Bhatpara area. Being informed by locals, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The body bore several injury marks, the SI added.

Besides, police recovered the hanging body of a girl, aged about 15, from a house in Laltek village in Sadar union in the morning. Two cases were filed.

Missing auto driver’s body found

The body of an auto-rickshaw driver who was missing from Sylhet for last two days was found at Jagannathpur in Sunamganj district on Friday noon.

The deceased was identified as Bishu Malakar, son of Nikhil Malakar of Vogshail village in Bishwanath upazila, said Shamsuddoha, officer-in-charge of Bishawanath Police Station.

Locals spotted a floating body in a ditch of Jagannathpur area in the noon. Later, father of the deceased identified the body.

The victim along with auto-rickshaw was missing since Wednesday, police said.

Two ‘muggers’ held with arms

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested two alleged snatchers along with arms from Chotteswari road area under Chakbazar thana in Chittagong on Thursday night.

The arrestees were identified as Md Abu Zahid, 22, son of Abul Bashar, a resident of Satbaria village in Chandanaish Upazila and Md Shahabuddin, 19, son of Mahmud Ullah of Paschim Amjakhali in Kutubdia upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.

A patrol team of the elite force challenged the duo in front of a pharmacy around 11.30pm when they were roaming around suspiciously, said a press release.

The RAB members caught them when they tried to flee.
