SUST admission tests begin Nov 14
SYLHET: The admission test for the first year honours courses of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) for academic session 2015-16 will begin on November 14.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the admission committee on Sunday afternoon with SUST Vice-chancellor Md Aminul Haque Bhuyan in the chair, SUST proctor Kamruzzaman Chowdhury told UNB.
Female dorm for IUB students
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) opened a dormitory named ‘IUB-Saima Hall’, for meritorious female students from outside Dhaka, says a press release.
Tahrunnesa Abdullah, a social activist and Magsaysay award winner, as chief guest inaugurated the dormitory at a ceremony at Baridhara in capital recently.
IUB has set-up the dormitory with the support of the Shaheed Khalek and Major Salek Bir Uttam Trust.
A Matin Chowdhury, chairman of IUB Founding Trust, Rashed Chowdhury, chairman of Board of Trustees, IUB and M Omar Rahman, vice-chancellor, IUB and other officials attended the ceremony. Mentionable, the dormitory students will receive full tuition scholarship from IUB aside from free dormitory facility.
Discussion on Nat’l Mourning Day
GAZIPUR: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) organised a commemorative discussion programme on the occasion of the National Mourning Day at BSMRASU Begum Sufia Kamal auditorium yesterday.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was the chief guest. Vice-Chancellor of the university Mahbubur Rahman presided over the discussion while Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir Bir Protik was the main speaker and discussed the long political history of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and liberation war. Director (Students Affair) M Mofazzal Hossain delivered welcome address.
Distinguished guests, all faculty members, students, officers and employees of the university were present at that time.
