A 3-three member probe committee was formed to investigate into the fire incident of Shaikalbaha thermal power plant. The committee formed headed by Engineer Abdul Khaleq, additional chief engineer of Shikalbaha power plant and two others members were Abul Bashar, assistant director (security) of Shikalbaha power plant and Kanai Chandra Das, superintendent engineer of Bangladesh Power Development Board of Chittagong. When contacted, Abdul Khaleq told The Independent, “The authorities asked us to submit the report within three days. We have started our investigation.” On Sunday electricity supply to the southern part of Chittagong was stopped about seven hours after a fire broke out at Shikalbaha thermal power plant. The fire caught suddenly in two transformers of the plant. As power gutted to transformer seven upazilas of southern Chittagong remained out of power from 3:30 to 10:00pm on Sunday.
