Keeping Sri Lanka’s Nidahas Cup in mind, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) arranged a special camp for the players especially fast bowlers along with some batsmen under the supervision of the fast-bowling coach Courtney Walsh.

A total of 15 fast bowlers from the national fold and promising bowlers out of the national team along with five batsmen are in the week-long special training camp that have been started since Friday.

It is generally  known that the wickets in subcontinent are normally spin-friendly but Sri Lankan track is somewhat different in where the fast bowlers get comparatively advantage from the deck with the same pace of the spinners.

Following the sub-par performance of the fast bowlers in the recently concluded  back-to-back home series, the board and so has organised a short-term training for the fast-bowlers so that the bowlers and batsmen could hone their skills and techniques for the upcoming T20 away series.

The T20 Tri-series will start on March 6 with the participation of the top-notch India, Bangladesh and the hosts Sri Lanka, who are hosting the three-team tournament to mark their 70th Independence Day.

Abu Haider Rony, who played so far five T20 internationals after being stepped into international cricket, is one of the fast bowlers among the lot and said that they are working on different bowling variation and its application in the game that are important in T20 cricket.

“The training is being done well. Here we’re working over new ball. Along with that, we’re also working on death over and Yorker. If we could do these works we’ll then fare well in T20 and one-day games,” said Abu Haider Rony.

“Courtney is working on how we could swing with the new ball alongside Yorker with the old ball. Survival in T20 is easier if the application of the block hole in T20 is good,” Rony told media after their third day practice session yesterday.

“The work is different. Some are doing extra practice in the camp. But after the camp, our practice is not held if we have game in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). But some does in the gap of the games. I think we should practice on Yorker at least two-three overs regularly,” he added.

Barring India, the young fast-bowler did not travel with the national team. This time if he was named for the T20 squad, it’ll be his maiden tour in Sri Lanka. The quick thinks that the result will be better if they could utilise their skills in right way.

“Walsh didn’t specifically say anything about me. He told me to do work on swing with the new ball. Along with that, I’m now working on death over,” the 22-year-old right-handed pacer said.

“Getting opportunity or not, it will completely depend on the team management. They know well. I’ll go on working my own work,” he also said.

“I am yet to go in Sri Lanka. But I think, if we could capitalise our skills the result will then be better for us,” he added.
