Credible polls, parliament big challenges: B Chy

President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury yesterday said a credible election and a reliable parliament are two big challenges for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the days to come, reports UNB. "People are now talking about election. A credible election and a trustworthy parliament are the big challenges for the Prime Minister in the near future," he said, B Chowdhury, also a former President, came up with the comment while speaking at a discussion arranged by BDB at its Kuril Biswa Road office, marking the Language Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day.

Amid an election atmosphere, he said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was jailed in a Tk 2.5 crore case. "I don't want to say anything about the verdict given in the case as it's completely court's jurisdiction. But I could be pleased had the court given a direction to spend the total amount of money with interests by forming a trust. I want to draw attention of the authorities concerned in this regard,"the Bikalpa Dhara president said.

The BDB chief said competition and rivalry are usual things in politics, but the politics of vengeance is not acceptable. "It can be of bravery to say I don't forgive anyone, but it's not always applicable in politics. So, we must do the politics of forgiveness, tolerance and honour."

Otherwise, he said, those who will stay in power in the future will enjoy the highest facilities, while those who will remain in the opposition will face, jailing and repression. "It won't be conducive to good politics, and good persons won't get interested in politics either."
