At least 10 persons were injured in a clash between the Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh nationalist party (BNP) activists at Tebaria in Natore on Saturday. Locals said the district AL arranged a rally at Ekotar intersection on Saturday afternoon. Later, the AL activists while moving towards the venue at around 6 pm beat a local Chhatra Dal activist. As the news of beating of the BNP man spread, a clash between AL and BNP activists broke out in the town’s Tebaria area. Several activists of both the groups were injured in the clash that lasted about one and a half hours. Acting President of Juba League Bashir Rahman Khan Chowdhury said their four workers were injured in an attack by the BNP. Among the injured two were identified as Rajib Hossain, 17, an activist of AL’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League, and Nazmul Hossain, 32, a Juba League worker. Rajib, who received bullet injuries in his head, was rushed to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Nazmul was undergoing treatment at Natore sadar hospital. Natore Police Superintendent Shyamol Kumar Mukharjee said they are trying to bring the situation under control.
