Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), the premier cultural organisation of the country, observed Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner through a day-long programme on February 21. The programme began with paying tribute at the Shaheed Minar by the BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky and his colleagues in the early hours of the day.
A cultural programme with participants from different languages was held at 3pm at the central Shaheed Minar as part of observing the Day where Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present among others.
The programme began with the chorus ‘Amar Bhaiyer Rokte Rangano, Ekushey February’ and National Anthem by the artistes of Bangladesh, Philippines, Denmark, Nepal, Iran Cultural Centre, Indonesia, Spain and others.
Later, an elaborated cultural programme was held at National Theatre Hall of BSA at 6pm.
Participants from different countries including Arab, Morocco, Sri-Lanka, Netherland, Afghanistan, Fiji, South Korea, Nigeria, the Maldives, Mozambique, Australia, Myanmar, Nepal, Mexico, Bhutan, Singapore, India, Colombia, Japan, Brunei, Egypt, Vietnam, Russia, Mongolia, Ukraine, Switzerland, Thailand, Papua Niugini, Cuba, Brazil, Pakistan, East Timor, and Italy performed musical shows in the second phase of the programme.
Dance troupe of the BSA, Iran Cultural Center, participants from Russian Cultural Centre, representatives from Australian High Commission, French Embassy and members of Dhaka Cultural troupe also enchanted the audience through their music and dance in Bangla and their respective languages.
