GAIBANDHA: Speakers at a function here recently said Bangladesh Ansar-VDP, the largest voluntary organization in the country, has been working dedicatedly and affectionately for the welfare of the people for long, reports BSS. “The members of Ansar and VDP work to maintain law and order, contribute to the socio-economic development side by side with eradicating militancy, and other social crimes from the society”, they said.
They made the comments while addressing an annual conference organized by Palashbari Upazila Ansar and VDP office at upazila town hall of the district recently.
District Commandant of Ansar and VDP M. Aftkharul Islam addressed the conference as the chief guest and officer in charge of Palashbari thana Mahmudul Hasan and commander of Upazila Muktijoddha Sangshad M. Abdur Rahman and president of Upazila Press Club M. Robiul Islam were present as the special guests.
With UNO M. Tofazzal Hossain in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by upazila Ansar and VDP officer M. Ayub Ali and upazila trainer Ferdousi Begum.
The chief guest in his speeches narrated the glorious history of the well organized and disciplined voluntary organization that has been working with dedication in remote areas with its trained members for building a middle income country by 2021 and digital Bangladesh as well.
He also urged the members to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to make all the government-sponsored development programmes successful.
UNO M. Tofazzal Hossain asked the members to work to free the society from social crimes specially militancy, eve teasing, human trafficking, gender disparity, drug trading and superstitions.
At the end, some Ansar and VDP members were awarded bi-cycles, sewing machines, umbrella and different kinds of gifts for their laudable contribution in the working fields.
A total of 200 members of Ansar and VDP of the upazila participated in the conference spontaneously.
