Matin Chowdhury made IUB trustee board chair

A Matin Chowdhury has been unanimously elected chairman of the Board of Trustees of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) for two years, says a press release. He will take over the new assignment on March 8, 2018.

A Matin Chowdhury, former Chairman of Education, Science, Technology and Cultural Development Trust (ESTCDT), is a businessman and a social worker who participated in the Liberation War in 1971 and retired from the Army as a Major in 1976.

He is involved in Textile and Apparel Business and is the managing director of New Asia Group. He also provided leadership to various non-profit Organisations including Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (DAB), Bangladesh Legal Aid & Services Trust (BLAST), Underprivileged Children Education Programme (UCEP), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, etc.

Other members of the trustees are SM Al-Husainy, Lutfe M Ayub, Md Aminuzzaman Bhuiyan, Abdul Hafiz Choudhury, FCA, Rashed Chowdhury, Ismail Dobash, M Anis Ud Dowla, Javed Hosein, Syed Mahmudul Haq, Dr Syed Serajul Huq, Didar A Hussain, Salma Karim, AHA Rasheed Khan, A Quaiyum Khan, Mohammad Zakaria Khan , Safia Ghazi Rahman, Abdul Hai Sarker, Altaf Hossain Sarker and Nilufer Zafarullah, MP.

JnU Accounting dept celebrates Rag Day

The 9th batch students of Accounting department of Jagannath University (JnU) celebrated ‘Rag day’ with great festivity and enthusiasm on the campus yesterday.

Throughout the day the whole batch participated in fun activities, and the faculty took  a festive look.

Chairman of accounting department Prof Md Ali Noor inaugurated the day’s event. JnU Vice-chancellor Prof Mijanur Rahman was the chief guest. The celebration ended with a cultural programme organised by the department.
