RAJSHAHI: Health and Family Welfare Minister Muhammad Nasim urged doctors and others concerned to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to ensure healthcare at the doorstep of rural and marginal peoples, reports BSS.
Rural and marginal people are dependent on public hospitals for emergency health problems and the present government is committed to reach healthcare services to them, he said while addressing a views-exchange meeting at the conference hall of Chest Disease Hospital in Rajshahi yesterday. The Health Minister said the government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is sincerely working to ensure healthcare to all.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, Zila Parishad Chairman Muhammad Ali Sarker, Divisional Director of Health Dr Anisur Rahman and Vice-chancellor of Rajshahi Medical University Prof Masum Habib attended the meeting.
Speaking as the chief guest, Nasim said the government appointed 6,500 doctors in 2014 and it has a plan to appoint 10,000 more doctors and 3,000 nurses in the near future.
He said in the mean time 10,000 nurses has been appointed.
Vice-chancellor has been appointed in the newly introduced Rajshahi Medical University, the Health Minister said, adding that necessary measures were taken to build infrastructures of the university.
