Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted separate drives in different areas of the capital on Saturday night and arrested three persons, including a woman, with heroin and yaba tablets. In Mirpur, being tipped-off, a team of DB police in a drive arrested an alleged woman drug peddler with 500 kilograms of heroin, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner AKM Jahangir Alam of DMP (Media and Public Relations) told The Independent. The arrestee was Shilpi Begum. In Wari, based on secret information, a team of DB police, led by senior assistant commissioner of police M Snigdha Akhter, conducted a drive and arrested two alleged drug peddlers with 15,000 yaba tablets, said Deputy Police Commissioner Muntasirul Islam Mamun of DMP (Public Relations). The arrestees were M Shuvo and M Yousuf Ahmed alias Shagor. During primary interrogations, the arrestees confessed their involvements in drug peddling in the capital for long time. Two separate cases were lodged with respective police stations in these connections.
