BNP trying to skip polls over Khaleda’s release issue, says Inu

Information Minister and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASOD) President Hasanul Haq Inu yesterday said BNP is trying to skip the next national polls making an issue over its Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's release from jail, reports BSS from Dhaka. "There is no barrier for BNP to take part in the next general election. The party (BNP) is trying to make Khaleda Zia's release a pre-condition (for polls)," he told a meeting after paying tributes to JASOD leader Kazi Aref Ahmed on the occasion of his 19th death anniversary here, an official release said.

Khaleda Zia has been convicted in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, Inu said, adding the court will decide her fate. He said the JASOD is doing politics to free the country from corruption JASOD General Secretary Shirin Akhtar and other leaders and activists of the party, among others, addressed the meeting with JASOD City Unit (West) President Mainur Rahman in the chair.
