JU to celebrate Pahela Falgun
SAVAR: The authority of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have taken up elaborate programmes to welcome Pahela Falgun, the first day of Spring in the Bengali month of Falgun, on February 13. With the slogan, 'Esho Bashanta Dharatale, Ano Muhu Muhu Naba Tan, Ano Naba Pran Naba Gan', Teachers and Students Center (TSC) will organise a cultural event at the Selim Al Din Muktamancha marking the day.
Director of JU TSC Prof Bashir Ahmed told a news agency yesterday.
'To welcome the spring season, we are going to organise a cultural programme with recitation of poem, rendering songs, and staging drama. Different cultural organisation under TSC will perform in the event', he said. JU Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam will inaugurate the event as the chief guest while JU Pro VC (academic) Prof Md Abul Hossain, Pro VC (administration) Professor Amir Hussain and Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq will attend the function as special guest, he added.
KJHAA celebrates its first reunion
Dhaka University (DU) Kabi Jasimuddin Hall Alumni Association (KJHAA) holds its first reunion on Saturday at Alumni Hall Auditorium at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman presided over the inaugural function while prime minister's Energy Affairs Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e- Elahi Chowdhury addressed it as chief guest, a DU press release said.
Marking the occasion, a colorful rally led by VC Akhtaruzzaman, was brought out from Jasimuddin hall premises which paraded the main streets of the campus.
