Students demand
permanent expulsion
of assaulters

A section of Dhaka University students on Sunday demanded permanent expulsion of Chhatra League activists who brutally roughed up Ehsan Rafiq, a second year student of disaster management and science department on Tuesday night. Students from different departments including Ehsan’s department formed a human chain at the foot of anti-terrorism Raju sculpture gagging their eyes with bandage under the banner of Student Against Repression to press home their demands.

Slapping the university administration for their failure to ensure security of the general students, demonstrators also alleged that the ‘backboneless administration’ became the custodian of the culprits. The administration should bear the full medical expenses of Ehsan Rafiq, they demanded. Demanding permanent expulsion of Chhatra League assaulters they also warned to wage tougher movement if the administration is failed to meet their demands. Meanwhile, quoting doctor victim’s father, Rafiqul Islam said that it might take six months or long to fix Ehsan’s eye and the physician continuously asses his latest condition as Ehsan constantly vomiting.
