‘Kidnapped’ youth rescued after gunfight

Police rescued a young man, who was kidnapped allegedly by Rohingya robbers, from the deep forest of Naitang in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar yesterday afternoon following a gunfight, leaving three policemen injured, reports UNB. The rescued youth is Jalal Ahmed, 22, son of Zahir Ahmed of Naityongpara in the upazila.  Police also arrested three hoodlums, including two women, along with illegal arms and sharp weapons from the spot. Officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Moinuddin Khan said the kidnappers picked up Jalal on Friday night and took him to the den of Rohingya robber kingpin Abdul Hakim in the deep forest where they tortured him severely for the two days. Police and Ansar men divided in three groups conducted a drive to rescue the victim, he said, adding that the bandits opened fire on the law enforcers sensing their presence.
