Citing the data of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu yesterday told Parliament that there are 727,233 cottage industries across the country, reports UNB.

Besides, the number of micro industries is 104,007 while that of small industries 30,890, medium industries 2,991 and large industries 3,123, he said.

The minister placed the statistics in the House replying to a starred question from treasury bench MP Israfil Alam (Naogaon-6).

The total number of industries is 868,244 in the country and some 72 lakh people are engaged in the factories.
