EDU Orientation Programme Held

University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Abdul Mannan urged  students to engage themselves in science and technology to keep pace with the fast moving world.

He said this while addressing an orientation programme for the freshers of Spring Semester-2018 at private East Delta University (EDU) on its campus in Chittagong city’s Nasirabad area recently, says a press release.

Putting importance on vocational education, the UGC chairman said  traditional education will not be effective in practical life when vehicles are driven without drivers in developed countries. He said youths will have to lead the world with their talent in this age of fourth-industrial revolution.

Mannan, a former VC of Chittagong University, said university is a place where many things can be learned every moment. He also hoped that EDU will carry out research activities and play a role in creating new knowledge along with ensuring quality education.

EDU Vice Chancellor Muhammad Sekandar Khan presided over the programme, which was also attended by treasurer Shames-Ud-Doha, acting registrar Sajal Barua, associate deans Mohammed Nazim Uddin, Mohammed Shahidul Islam Chowdhury and Mohammad Rokibul Kabir, and others.

VC Khan said the university is committed to ensuring quality education for all following international standard.
