Two ‘JMB men’ held

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested two alleged members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) along with explosives from Kashiadanga area in the city early yesterday.

The arrestees Atiullah, 22, of Gaibandha and Maksedul Islam, 23, of Dinajpur, are 'Gayre Ehsar' (part-time) members of the JMB, claims ASP Nure Alam of Rab-5 in Rajshahi.

 He said they were arrested from Kashiadanga area in the city at 2.30am on Wednesday when they reached Rajshahi from the capital Dhaka by a passenger bus. Rab also members seized one-kilogram gunpowder like substance, and bomb making equipment including soda, circuits, batteries and wires from their possession. They were being interrogated at Rajshahi Rab headquarters and they would be handed over to the police later, says the Rab.

Meanwhile, RAB also arrested two operatives of JMB from Bimanbandar area in the capital on Tuesday afternoon, reports BSS.  They arrested Nur Islam Arman, 24, and Iqbal Hasan, 24, from Kawla area  under Bimanbandar police station along with some jihadi (religious uprising) books around 3:30pm on Tuesday for their suspected involvement with JMB, operational officer of RAB-1 senior assistant police super Samira Sultana told the news agency.
