Three members of law enforcers were arrested in Chittagong yesterday following a death in a clash between villagers and lawmen over the arrest of an accused at Bhatiari in Sitakundo upazila on Wednesday night, reports UNB. The arrestees are Najmul Huda, an ASI, Abul Kashem, a constable of Sitakundo Police Station and Ismail Hossain, an Ansar man.
Chittagong district Police Superintendent Nur-e-Alam Meena said four persons, including three security personnel, were primarily found guilty of opening fire on the villagers that left Saiful Islam, a villager, dead and two others injured in the clash.
Earlier, a three- member probe body was formed to scrutinise the clash after the brother of the deceased Didar filed a case with Chittagong Police Station on Thursday.
The incident took place as the law enforcers allegedly arrested the accused without arrest warrant that ensued clash with villagers.
