Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) yesterday formed a human chain demanding students who "assaulted" the vice chancellor and damaged university property during a siege of the VC's office on Tuesday are punished, reports UNB. Under the banner of 'Conscious Students of Dhaka University', more than two hundred students from the different residential halls and departments of DU took part in the human chain at the altar of the Raju Memorial near TSC.
Benojir Ahmed, a Masters student of political science and convener of 'Conscious Students of Dhaka University' said, "We took part in the human chain protesting and demanding exemplary punishment to the assailants who attacked the VC, destroyed university property and harassed female fellows."
Threatening to wage tougher movement, Benojir, also a former social welfare affairs secretary of Surja Sen Hall BCL, said, "A group of people hatching conspiracy to destabilize the congenial environment of the university must be brought to book."
