‘Panchaynari Akhyan’ 
to see 50th show today

Talented actress Rosy Selim has been presenting the audience her acclaimed monodrama ‘Panchanari Akhyan’ on the stage regularly since last few years. The play has been directed by seasoned actor-director Shahiduzzaman Selim. Keeping up with the trend, 50th show of ‘Panchanair Akhyan’ will be staged today at 7pm at the Mahila Samiti auditorium in the capital’s Baily Road area.

Written by Harunur Rashid, ‘Panchanari Akhya’ is the 37th production of Dhaka Theatre. The play narrates life stories of women, their struggles for rights and humiliation, through the portrayal of five different women characters from five different contexts of the society. Rosy Selim is the featured artiste of this monodrama, who plays the role of Julekha, Nazma, Monoroma, Moriom and Momtaz simultaneously.

Rosy Selim said about acting in the play, “I receive positive feedback from the audience during every show. As 50th show of the play will be staged today, I believe it will be more responsive than earlier shows. I am grateful to Harunur Rashid for a splendid story and also gratitude to director Shahiduzzaman Selim. Because of them, I got a huge response for my performance in this play.”

“Watching my performance, Golam Mustafa (The late veteran actor is the father of celebrated actress Suborna Mustafa) once said that you are god-gifted actress! I can’t make you understand in words that how big appreciation it was for me. The very blessing has always been an inspiration to me”, Rosy added while recalling a fond memory about her acting life.

To note, Afzal Hossain is in the stage direction while Shimul Yusuff and Chandan Chowdhury are the music directors of the play. Nasrin Nahar designed the costumes and Wasim Ahmed is in light design.
