Stocks ended the week yesterday upward with rising trend of major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher transactions, reports BSS. The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 93.57 points higher at 6,215.80. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 63.57 points up at 2,304.69 and with 27.52 points up at 1,431.44.
Out of the 339 issues traded on DSE, 160 gained against 146 losing issues. The daily average trade value at DSE was 19.92 per cent up at Tk 449.34 crore and the trade volume was 0.91 per cent up at 9.98 crore shares. During the week, the top five gainers were Usmania Glass Sheet Factory, Eastern Cables, Bangladesh Lamps, Bangladesh Finance and Investment Company and Islami Insurance. The five major losing companies were Oimex Electrode, Appollo Isphat Complex, Central Insurance Company, Sinobangla Industries and Dragon Sweater and Spinning.
The top five turnover leaders were Square Pharmaceutical, Grameen Phone, IFAD Autos, Beximco Pharmaceuticals and Paramount Textile. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 292.07 points higher at 19,160.81.
