Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman yesterday said people concerned should initiate joint efforts between scientific research and industrial institutions for accelerating country's development, reports BSS. "Joint efforts by scientific research and industrial institutions can ensure quality of products which will ultimately minimise the cost of products," he said. The minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a three-day science fair titled "Science and Industrial Technology Fair" as the chief guest. Bangladesh Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) organised the event on its Dhanmondi campus in the capital. The main thrust of the fair is to encourage the young scientists for flourishing their innovative talents and building a science-minded nation.
Science and Technology Secretary Anwar Hossain, former Vice- Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Prof Dr Pran Gopal Datta addressed the function as special guests with BCSIR Chairman Faruque Ahmed in the chair. The minister viewed that there is no way but to wide-ranging promotion of the science and technology sector to take the nation forward successfully.
Science education should be expanded to the doorsteps of both rural and urban students as there is no alternative to acquire scientific knowledge to make the country technologically advanced, said the speakers.
