Swaraswati Puja celebrated

The Hindu community yesterday celebrated the Swaraswati Puja with the spirit of pursuing education and knowledge, traditional gaiety and due religious fervour across the country. Our RU correspondent adds: Saraswati Puja was celebrated yesterday on the Rajshahi University (RU) campus. Hindu devotees, especially students and teachers of university attended the Puja on the university central temple premises, setting up colorful mandaps and placing the idol of the goddess with different types of fruits and other items.

RU VC Prof M Abdus Sobhan was chief guest while Indian High Commissioner to Rajshahi Ovijit Chattopadday and Pro-VC Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Shaha were the special guests at a discussion , chaired by Prof Biswanath Sarker, president of RU Central Puja Celebration Committee.

JnU correspondent adds: The students of Hindu community of Jagannath University (JnU) also celebrated Saraswati Puja on the campus. Students of more than 34 departments of JnU set up mandaps at science faculty, and arts faculty playground and one in progoze school this year, organised by JnU Central Puja Committee (JnUCPC).

The devotees, mostly the students attired in colourful dresses, offered special prayers to seek knowledge from the Goddess Saraswati. 'Prasad' was distributed among the students, teachers and officers who attended the ceremony. JnU Vice-chancellor Prof Mijanur Rahman visited the Puja mandaps as chief guest.
