Zimbabwe ‘capable’ of beating Bangladesh

Zimbabwe middle-order batsman Peter Joseph Moor said Monday that the confidence they got from the last few games, they believe, they could beat the hosts if they could play to their capability even though beating Bangladesh at their yard is really tough. Moor also said that they have prepared themselves to keep Tigers’ strength in mind so that they could win the vital match by handling their battery.

“We know that tomorrow we’ve a crucial game for us and if we win we will have a good chance to cruise to the final,” said Peter Joseph Moor, who scored 33, 19 and 0 so far in the series.

“Obviously there is still the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh game which is out of our control but I think, we’re going to do everything from our part. We’re going to pitch up with an eager mindset and confidence to win tomorrow’s game but how we going to do that I won’t go for too much details about it,” Moor told media at his pre-match day press briefing in Mirpur yesterday.

“But I think we’re all very confident where we saw how we win the game against Sri Lanka and we’ll get a lot of momentum despite what happened yesterday. I think, we’ve proved to everybody what we’re capable of. If we can play to our level of ability, a lot of confidence we have that can beat Bangladesh,” he added.

Losing the last match against Sri Lanka, today’s fixture turns to be life-and-death for Zimbabwe to go into final of the three-team tournament what the African side know very well.

Citing the names of Mustafiz and Rubel, the middle-order batsman said that they have worked to formulate a counter method to switch off their lethal bowlers. “We’re very much aware of the factors that Bangladesh are very strong team at home and in fact, in the recent years, they’ve been a strong team aboard as well,” the right-handed batsman said.

“We know they’re good against spin and that’s the main strength of Bangladesh. Recently, they’ve Mustafiz and Rubel Hossain’s bowling at death overs very well. We need to counter that,” he also said.

“We’ve been practicing on those to make a method ready for that. I think we’ve to win the crucial part of the tomorrow’s game. I think we’re very capable of doing that,” he added.

The 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, who played so far six Tests, 29 ODIs along with eight T20Is for Zimbabwe, said that they will get down playing their last encounter with the momentum what they got from the second match.
