Ferry services resume

MANIKGANJ: Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route and Chandpur-Shariatpur route in the Padma and Meghna River resumed after seven and a half hours of disruption caused by dense fog yesterday morning, reports UNB.

“The ferry services on Paturia- Daulatdia route remained suspended from 2am due to poor visibility caused by thick fog,” said Nasir Mohammad Chowdhury, assistant general manager of BIWTC at Aricha. Later, the ferry services resumed around 9:30am as the fog disappeared.

Our Chandpur correspondent reports: Ferry services on Chandpur-Shariatpur route came to a halt around 3 am due to dense fog. Later, the services resumed around 9:30am following disappearance of fog, said Chandpur Sadar’s Horina Ferry ghat (BIWTC) Manager Parvez Khan.

Our Tangail correspondent reports, thousands of passengers got stuck on Dhaka-Tangail highway yesterday morning as a 14-km long tailback was created on the road due to dense fog.
