President Md Abdul Hamid joined the Akheri Munajat (concluding prayers) of the second phase of the three-day Bishwa Ijtema from his official residence Bangabhaban yesterday morning, reports UNB. The President along with officials and staff members of Bangabhaban took part in the prayers from Darbar Hall through big digital screens as the prayer was telecast live from the banks of the Turag River at Tongi in Gazipur district after 10am. Senior Islamic scholar Hafez Mawlana Mohammad Zubaer conducted the final prayers in Bangla.
The second phase of the 53rd Biswa Ijtema, the largest Muslim congregation after the holy hajj, started with sermons of Mawlana Mohammad Hossain on Friday with participation of Muslims from 15 districts including Dhaka and around 4,000 foreign devotees from 79 countries.
