Dhaka stocks close week down

Stocks closed the week down yesterday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities, reports BSS. During the week, the daily average trade value declined by 16 per cent to Tk 374.69 crore and the average trade volume fell by 15.50 per cent to 9.89 crore shares. The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 57.09 points down at 6,122.23. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 19.13 points down at 2,241.12 and with 12.36 points down at 1,403.91 respectively.

Out of the 338 issues traded on DSE, 82 gained against 236 losing issues.The top five gainers of the week were Sonargaon, Meghna Petroleum, SP Ceramics, Eastern Lubricant and Shurwid.

The major losing issues of the week were ALIF, AIL, Islami Insurance, Zeal Bangla and OIMEX. The top five turnover leaders were Ifad Autos, UPGDCL, PTL, National Tubes and ALIF. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 229.68 points lower at 18,868.74.
