Malaysian High Commissioner in Dhaka Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib yesterday assured Bangladeshi businesspeople of providing all possible support to boost bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Malaysia, reports UNB. She made the assurance when newly elected members of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) led by its President Syed Moazzam Hossain met her.
She thanked the BMCCI leaders for their roles in promoting bilateral trade relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia. The High Commissioner assured her all out support to all BMCCI activities. The BMCCI leaders drew attention of the High Commissioner over some harassment in Kuala Lumpur Immigration and requested her to take initiative to stop harassment to genuine businesspeople in Kuala Lumpur Immigration.
The BMCCI President in a Memorandum submitted to the High Commissioner mentioned that Bangladesh considers Malaysia as one of the major sources of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
He mentioned that Malaysia is also one of the largest investors in Bangladesh.
The BMCCI President said the BMCCI is going to organise the 5th Showcase Bangladesh 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia tentatively in September/ October.
He mentioned that Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia is going to organise Bangladesh Festival in Kuala Lumpur on March 21-24.
In conjunction with this, the BMCCI is exploring possibilities to organise Bangladesh Trade and Investment seminar in cooperation with Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
BMCCI along with BIDA and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) will jointly organise ICT Fair in Kuala Lumpur in April.
BMCCI is also going to organise seminar on ‘Role of Private Sector in Achieving SDG’ in 2030 in the second week of February in Dhaka.
Among others, BMCCI Vice President Syed Almas Kabir, Secretary General Shabbir Ahmed Khan, Treasurer Engr Mohammad Badrul Hassan and Secretary Hasanur Rahman Chowdhury were present during the meeting.
