NETRAKONA: A court here yesterday sentenced a person to capital punishment for killing a school teacher in Barhatta upazila in the district in 2015, reports BSS. District and session judge of Netrakona KM Rasheduzzaman Raja handed down the verdict to Kalachan, 44, an inhabitant at choigaon village of the upazila.
The judge also acquitted three accused of the case as the charge brought against them was not proved. According to the prosecution, on December 2 in 2015, headmaster at Monash govt primary school Arjun Biswas was hacked to death by the convicted Kalachan at the village Choigaon when he was going to his school riding on a motorcycle with his colleague one Shafia Sultana Sumi.
Following the murder his wife namely Maya Rani Biswas filed a murder case with Barhatta police station against four people including the convicted Kalachan.
Police after investigation submitted a charge sheet before the court against the accused on January 31, 2016. Testifying witnesses and evidences the learned judge ordered the verdict in presence of Kalachan. Public prosecutor Advocate Saiful Alom Pradip was appeared on behalf of the prosecution when advocate Manobendra Biswas Uzzal stood for the accused, the court sources said.
