Experienced left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak of South Zone set a record by claiming 500th-wicket in first class cricket as the first-ever Bangladesh bowler yesterday. His haul included 23 wickets in Test cricket.
Razzak reached the milestone in his 113th match during the second round fixture of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at BKSP. Being dropped out of the national fold after the
2014 West Indies tour, Razzak concentrated more on domestic circuit. Last four years, he was consistent in his form. The spinners took the bulk of the 239 wickets off 500 in his last five years. He took the highest 38 wickets off six round games in the last BCL.
The 35-year-old spinner stepped into the history when he trapped Sadman Islam leg before wicket. Along with that, he broke the well-composed
171-run partnership of Sadman and Robiul Islam Robi. Robi followed Sadman’s suits as they left the field in the space of just two runs. Sadman holed out for 89, whilst Robi for 89.
Finally, Walton Central Zone finished third day with 313-2 in response to Prime Bank South Zone’s first innings 448. Raqibul Hasan was at stumps on 82 with Mehrab Hossain Junior 42.
At Sylhet, BCB North Zone took 249-run lead against Islami Bank
East Zone. After halting East Zone at 211, North Zone compiled 273-8 following their first innings 187 on the close of the third day.
