Myanmar sends over 1,300 names of ARSA men

Myanmar has sent a list containing names of more than 1,300 Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) “terrorist members” to Bangladesh, reports UNB.

It was done at the 4th Myanmar-Bangladesh Central-Level Meeting on Border Security and Law Enforcement Cooperation held in Naypyidaw on 14 November 2017, Myanmar information ministry said yesterday.

In addition, Bangladesh was also informed to extradite the ARSA extremists according to the 1980 Myanmar-Bangladesh Border Agreement so that action can be taken against them according to the law, it said quoting ministry of foreign affairs.

Given the activities of the ARSA ‘extremists’, Myanmar side also spoke of preventive measures to be taken in anticipation of possible attacks by ARSA terrorists during the process of repatriation.

According to Myanmar authorities, the ARSA ‘extremists’ launched attacks on police outposts in Rakhine on Aug 25 last year, displacing residents from a number of areas in Maungtaw district.
