Jahangirnagar University authorities identified a fake student in the department of Journalism and Media Studies recently.
Mofsena Takia, hails from Sherpur who addressed herself as the first year student of Journalism and Media Studies department, failed to produce authentic documents during filling up first year final examination forms.
According to university sources, Mofsena Takia was in the waiting list of freedom fighters quota.
During interrogation Takia said, ‘I am not a student of the department. A student namely Al Amin of Geography and Environment department admitted me here by exchanging Tk 20,000’.
Denying the allegation Al Amin, a 42 batch student of Geography department, said ‘I do not know about the matter’.
Chairman of Journalism and Media Studies department Uzzawal Kumar Mandal said, “Takia did not have any specific roll number. But she sat for all class tests. I informed the matter to JU Proctor.”
When contacted JU Proctor Professor Tapan Kumar Saha said, “After interrogation we confirmed that Takia is not our student. The university authorities will take further decision on the matter”.
