3-day winter fest begins at JU today

SAVAR: A three-day winter festival titled 'Him Utshab' will begin at Jahangirnagar University on Thursday.

‘Poromporay Amra’, a cultural organisation, will arrange the festival to be held at Cafateria and Zahir Raihan auditorium premises from 10am to 10pm. The event includes a photography exhibition, a fair featuring many types of Pithas, folk songs, Gatu songs, art camp etc. An art exhibition will be held during all the three-day festival.

RUET first year classes begin Jan 20

RAJSHAHI: First year classes of newly admitted students in 2017-18 academic year of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) will start from January 20, a RUET press release said on Monday.

Prior to this, orientation for all the students of three faculties will be held on January 18 according to the decision of RUET’s academic council meeting, the release added.

The first year admitted students have been asked to register their names at central auditorium at least 30 minutes before of the respective orientation meeting start.

Guardians and parents of the students were also invited to attend the orientation meeting. Classes of all departments will be held based on the respective selected routine from January 20. The press release pointed out that if any student remains absent in 10 consecutive class-days his or her admission will be cancelled. This year, a total of 6,464 students took part in admission test. Of them, 1,115 got chance for admission in 14 departments.

DU signs MoU with BSMMU

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Centre for Advanced Research in Sciences (CARS) of Dhaka University (DU) and the Department of Laboratory Medicine of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) was signed at the Vice-

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chancellor (VC)'s lounge on the campus. Treasurer of DU Prof Md Kamal Uddin and Treasurer of BSMMU Prof Ali Asgar Moral signed the MoU on behalf of their respective universities, a DU press release said. According to the MoU, DU CARS and BSMMU Laboratory Medicine Department will exchange research facilities mutually in their laboratories. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the BSMMU authorities for signing the MoU and hoped that the doctors, academicians, scientists, researchers and students of these two universities would be highly benefited by this initiative, the release added.

JU Suswar gets new committee

SAVAR: Suswar, a Jahangirnagar University (JU) based cultural organisation, announced a 13-member new executive body for the next one year.

Musabbir Hasan of English and Richimoni Proma of Law and Justice department made President and General Secretary of the new committee respectively, said a press release.

Former President of the orgnaisaiton Rishit Mukhopahay announced the new executive body at the 4th founding anniversary programme that was held at Teacher and Student Center (TSC) on Monday, the release added.
