Tareque Masud film week ends

The 'Tareque Masud Film Week' that began on January 12 ended yesterday. The Digital Life Institute (Institute of Information and Communications Technology) arranged the film week in the city's Dhanmondi, reports UNB. Muktir Gaan, Ontorjatra, Runway, Noroshundor, Adam Surat and Matir Moina were screened in the festival.

Eminent film director Shameem Akhtar as a chief guest was present at the inauguration ceremony while Vice Chancellor of United International University Professor Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, film personalities including Zahidur Rahman Anjan, Moinuddin Khaled, Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Tareq Ahmed were present.

Tareque Masud's younger brother Nahid Masud was also present at the ceremony.

Tareque Masud was a renowned Bangladeshi independent film director, filmmaker, film producer, screenwriter and lyricist. His films - Muktir Gaan and Matir Moina - earned name and fame in the home and abroad and for this, he bagged three international awards.

The filmmaker died in a road accident on August 13 in 2011 on the Dhaka-Aricha highway while returning to Dhaka from Manikganj after visiting a film spot.
