Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has surprised the football experts and fans about the inclusion of an unfit player in the Australia bound national team to play in the FIFA World Cup qualifying round away match in Perth on September 3. The BFF has included midfielder Jahid Hossain in the 23-team which was due to fly for Kuala Lumpur in the hours of today to play a FIFA Friendly with the Malaysian national team on August 29. Then the tem will fly for Australia on August 30 to play their third qualifier in the five team group matches. Bangladesh earned just one point after playing two home matches against Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Jordan is the other team in the group. A senior official of the BFF admitted yesterday that not a hundred percent got player has been included in the team. “I have just came to know that Jahid is 70 percent and he is now trying to get full fitness before September 3,” said the high official of BFF who wanted to remain anonymous. He also admitted that Jahid has been stay away from international match for a lone time due to injury and he did not play any international since the Bangabandhu Gold Cup in February this year.
Even he stayed away from regularly paying in the Bangladesh Premier League for Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra due to injury problem. It really surprised the fans that how could the head coach Lodewijk de Kruif name an injured Jahid in the final squad for Australia tour when he was not given chance to play in the first two FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Probably the coach has given chance to Jahid considering him as an experienced midfielder.
However, Jahid Hossain, one of the key performers of the national team, expressed his determination to give their 100 percent effort against Australia in the World Cup qualifying match. While talking to media three days ago Jahid said, “I recovered 70 percent fitness and hopefully I will get my full fitness before September 3. We have four practice sessions at home before leaving the country and will also play a preparation match in Malaysia before flying for Australia.”
He however, has the guts to say that if they can play to their full potential then Bangladesh can also won the match. “Nothing to be afraid of, we have been playing international matches for long time, we are all committed to give 100 percent, everybody wants to give their best, we will play to fight and to win, nobody wants to lose,” said Jahid. Jamal Bhuiyan, Denmark born Bangladeshi, who has been playing for Bangladesh national side for last two years, after their last practice session yesterday said that they would have to be 100 percent fit and will have to give their best.
