Fast bowler Rubel Hossain touched the 100th-wicket milestone as the fifth Bangladesh bowler at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the opening fixture of the Rocket Tri-nation series yesterday.

Left-arm spinners Mohammad Rafique, Abdur Razzak and Shakib Al Hasan along with pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza crossed the landmark in Bangladesh circuit before Rubel.

Apart from it, Rubel set another milestone in the same match as he is the third fastest bowler of Bangladesh after Abdur Razzak and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza to pick up the hundred wickets in the one-day international cricket.

The right-handed paceman grabbed his wicket-century off 81 matches what he did against Zimbabwe in Mirpur.

Though Rubel began by playing tapped tennis ball cricket, he did not make delay to come to the limelight with his sheer speed and special bowling action.

When he appeared in international cricket what he had opened with a match of a tri-nation series against Sri Lanka in 2009, he fumbled batsmen with his bouncer and sling action what he maintained to date.

Day by day he honed his natural skills and attempted to learn new bowling variation to sustain in the changing global cricket.

Among five Bangladesh bowlers, the 28-year-old seamer possessed a hat-trick in one-day. Fast Bowler Shahadat Hossain Rajib, Abdur Razzak, Taijul Islam and Taskin Ahmed made hat-trick for Bangladesh in one-day beside Rebel.

Yesterday he produced a hat-trick chance removing Peter Joseph Moor and Tendai Chatara in the 48th over. Though later it was not made, he finished his bowling with 2-24.   

Rubel played 12 matches more than Razzak and three more than Mashrafe to set the new record in Bangladesh folklore.

Left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak had played 69 matches to claim his hundred scalps what he did to play against United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Lahore in 2008, whilst paceman Mashrafe Bin Mortaza played more than nine matches than Razzak to grab the record as the second Bangladesh bowler what he did against Pakistan in Lahore at the same year.

Overall, Rubel is the fifth and second quick highest wicket-taker of Bangladesh in ODI cricket after Mashrafe, Razzak, Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Rafique.

Mashrafe is now the highest wicket-taker in ODI cricket, claiming 232 off 181 matches with the best figures of 6-26.

Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan closely followed Mashrafe with 229 wickets what he chalked up from the identical number of 181 outings.

Abdur Razzak remained third with 207 what he bagged from153 matches with the best figures of 5-29, while Mohammad Rafique fourth withb119 wickets, bettering figures of 5-47.
