Hamlets Council speaker meets DU VC
Tower Hamlets Council Speaker, United Kingdom (UK) Sabina Akhtar made a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman yesterday at the latter's office on the campus.
During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes among University of Dhaka and various higher educational institutions in UK, a DU press release said.
Akhtaruzzaman thanked the guest for her visit to DU and keen interest in its academic and research activities, the release added. President and CEO of TCBL Group MS Shekil Chowdhury was present on this occasion.
Congress on Ethnopharmacology at DU tomorrow
The 18th International congress of international society for Ethnopharmacology and the 5th international congress of the society of ethno pharmacology, India (ISE-SFEC 2018) will be held at Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University from January 13 to 15.
The international congress is jointly organised by the department of pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy of Dhaka University in association with society for ethno pharmacology of India.
The declaration came from a press briefing held at the National Press Club on Wednesday morning.
Around 800 national and international researchers, students, teachers, scientists from 32 different countries including 100 from India and 650 from Bangladesh will participate at the conference where research work will be presented, debate and disseminate of ideas among the distinguished professionals, eminent scientist, technologist and industrialist will be held.
The conference will begin at 9am on Saturday and will continue till 7 pm.
National University exams begin
The Degree Pass and Certificate course examinations across the country began on Thursday with 145,481 examinees (1 lakh 45 thousand 481) from 1,721 colleges expected to appear. The examinations will be held at 689 centers across the country.
An examination control room has opened on the Gazipur National University campus to act as a coordinating centre for the exams.
