The three-day long development fairs began in Barisal, Rajshahi and Khulan cities yesterday morning. District administrations organised the fair in the respective cities Our Staff Reporter adds from Barisal: District administration organised the fair on the Bangabandhu Udyan premises.
After country wide inauguration by Prime Minister, Chairman of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Munim inaugurated the fair as chief guest.
DC Barisal Md Habibur Rahman presided over the programme said different government, non government, NGOs and socio cultural organisation opened a total 167 stalls in the fair this year. Different local games, discussion and cultural programme also arranged here.
BSS adds from Rajshahi: A discussion was held in the city on the occasion. Here speakers said “By virtue of realistic and vibrant steps
taken by the present government, Bangladesh has attained remarkable success in economic and social sectors during the last nine years”.
They said the successes are visible in all the major and vital areas- ICT, agriculture, education, reduction of infant and maternal mortality, poverty reduction, safety net and women empowerment. The nation is getting international awards one after another as recognition of the achievements.
The fair organized by District Administration being held in the Rajshahi Collegiate School playground where more than 91 government and associate development organizations are showcasing their respective development achievements through separate stalls. Commissioner Aminul Islam addressed the session as chief and special guests respectively with Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif in the chair.
In Khulna: Fisheries and Live Stock Minister Naryan Chandra Chanda inaugurated the fair as the chief guest in front of Khulna Circuit House.
Chaired by Khulna deputy commissioner Amin-ul-Ahsan, Parliement member Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Chairman of Khulna Zila Parishad Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia, DIG of Police's Khulna Range Didar Ahmed, Additional Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mahbub Hakim, addressed the function as special guests, among others.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, chief guest Naryan Chandra Chanda said, Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is marching forward in many sectors of socio economic area which are the wonders to the world people.
He said the main purpose of the fair is to display various development activities of present government before the people.
“Nobody in the world now consider Bangladesh as a country of natural disasters, corruption and poverty any more. It has now become a model of development," Chanda said.
